Intel wants to be the ‘operating system’ for big data

Intel, continuing with its brand features is all set to bring an array of software tools for Hadoop open-source big data processing framework. Researchers plan to use nano-satellites as space traffic cops

Researchers at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), California, have developed and tested a series of ground-based mini-satellites. These satellites are so-called “Space Cops” as they act like the traffic cops in space. They were used by the LLNL team to capture a series of six images over a period of 60-hour in order to prove that they can be used to alter the orbit of other probes or space debris traveling in the low-Earth orbit. They plan to use the satellite network to prevent increasing collisions of satellites and space debris. Continue Reading »

Google selling Motorola unit to Lenovo for $2.9B

Lenovo gears up to strengthen its position in the smartphone market, with a strong PC business and a fast-growing smartphone business, Lenovo has now entered into a definitive agreement with Google under which Lenovo plans to acquire the Motorola Mobility smartphone business.  Google Inc. is hanging up on its Motorola Mobility unit and is selling its smartphone division to Chinese PC maker Lenovo for $2.9 billion.
